Board of Directors

Ninth Street’s Board of Directors consists of the representatives of our owning partner media arts organizations. Three of the owning organizations have their own larger Boards that are reflective of the diverse communities they serve, guide and influence the decisions made by the directors in their role as stewards of the Ninth Street Independent Film Center.

K. C. PRICE, President
K. C. is the Executive Director of Frameline and President of Ninth Street Independent Film Center’s Board of Directors. He has over twelve years experience in fundraising and non-profit administration, the last six years have been with Frameline and the Ninth Street Independent Film Center. Prior to his work at Ninth Street, he was the Development Director for the STOP AIDS Project, an HIV prevention organization in the Bay Area. K.C. was the previous Managing Director of Ninth Street and has incredible experience coordinating with the three partner organizations. He holds an M. A. in English Literature from George Washington University.

STEPHEN GONG, Treasurer
Stephen is the Executive Director of the Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) and Treasurer for the Board of Directors of the Ninth Street Independent Film Center. Stephen joined CAAM after working for 18 years at the University of California, Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, most recently as Deputy Director. Previously, he held positions at the National Endowment for the Arts in Washington, D.C. He has been a lecturer in the Asian American Studies program at UC Berkeley, where he developed and taught a course on the history of Asian American media.

PETER L. STEIN, Secretary
Peter, who joined SFJFF as Executive Director in 2003, has a producing and management career in the arts that spans theater, television, documentary film and museums; he is also Secretary of the Ninth Street Independent Film Center’s Board of Directors. Mr. Stein served as Executive Producer at public television station KQED (San Francisco). His documentary series Neighborhoods: The Hidden Cities of San Francisco has garnered critical acclaim and numerous prestigious awards, including the George Foster Peabody Award. He was The Contemporary Jewish Museum’s Deputy Director for Programming, also the primary content developer for the museum's award-winning web site, www.jmsf.org. Mr. Stein is an accomplished public speaker, having been a guest on such programs as NPR's "Fresh Air" and "Weekend Edition" and numerous television news and interview programs. Mr. Stein is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Harvard University, and a third-generation San Francisco native.
